TouchscreensTouch screens are a see through interface between the human user and the software being operated by the computer system. This allows an easy user-friendly interface between the operator and the software. It also allows the equipment manufacture to control access to different levels that he so wishes. This could be for security reason e.g. supervision only areas or it might be used to lead customers to a special service. |

Below is a table of the various different technical types of screens available together with the advantages and disadvantages of each type. A brief description of the range follows:
Since the most popular and most widely used touch screen technology is resistive WASP has made a strategic decision to concentrate on the manufacture of this style of touch screen. We are also working on capacitive technology and have recently announced our intentions in that area. WASP are UK designers and manufacturers of resistive screens. We offer a comprehensive range of standard products and a very experienced design team to design and manufacture touch screens to your requirements. We are help with all aspects of the design and installation of the screen. This includes sizes and spacing to fit a display of your choose, mounting and operation. Switching is achieved by two etched ITO materials either in a matrix format or an analogue arrangement. The two layers are held apart by very small spacer dots and when touched the two layers make contact and operate the touch screen. We offer an electronic interface and software drivers that will interface with RS232 or USB. Connectors are usually fitted to a conductive tail to accommodate connection. Tail output and length of tail can be designed to your requirements. By offering all available back mounting materials we are in strong position to enable us to supply any size, shape or style of screen you might require. This includes glass, polycarbonate and acrylic back panels. The glass can be toughened if required and acrylic can be machined in-house to reduce lead-times and improve efficiencies. All touch screens can be supplied with hard coats for added robustness as well as anti-glare or gloss surfaces to enhance the top layer. Where a two-layer flexible touch screen is mounted to a thicker substrate an optically clear adhesive is used to improve visibility. WASP also offers screen-printing to add soft keys or other graphics that are required. WASP has a custom designed production unit close to the main factory in Emsworth Hants operated by a very skilled work force dedicated to customer service and care. We have a Clean room with positive pressure gates to ensure the touch screens are assembled in the cleanest possible environment. With this clean area are Static sensitive benches and extractor-fanned units to further assist perfect assembly. WASP are reasonably self sufficient in terms of total design control, laser cutting the back panels, screen-printing, etching and assembly of their touch screen. A paperless system is run on production where every operator’s instruction is transmitted via our computer system ensuring everyone is aware of his or her input to the manufacture of the touch screen. |
